Galen Names Career Services Coordinator

LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 6, 2011 - Galen College of Nursing has appointed Debra Rayman, RN, to career services coordinator. Rayman brings more than 30 years of healthcare and workforce development experience to the organization.

Rayman comes to Galen from Norton Healthcare where she gained extensive healthcare experience serving in a variety of roles. Most recently, Rayman served as the director of Norton Healthcare’s workforce development and scholarship programs. In addition, Rayman serves on many boards and advisory councils including the Greater Louisville Consortium for Health Care , KentuckianaWorks - Program Oversight Committee, Urban League - Business Advisory Council, Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership Board , Project One Board, and JCPS Career and Technical Education Task Force. Rayman earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and is currently working on her Master’s in Human Resource Development at Webster University. She is a member of American Society for Training and Development, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, Society for Human Resource Management and also dedicates time to the Kosair Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Dr. Joan Frey, Dean of Galen’s Louisville campus shared, “We are very excited to implement the position of Career Services Coordinator at the Louisville Campus for the benefit of our students and graduates. We are most especially pleased to have someone of Debra Rayman’s experience and caliber to collaborate with our community partners on workforce development.”

In this newly created role, Rayman will develop and maintain relationships with local employers, acting as a liaison between job-seeking students and employers. She will also plan, organize, and implement career service related programs including, employment market evaluation, employer satisfaction, student information, career guidance, and alumni services.
