Dr. Burlingame has overall leadership and management responsibilities for developing, staffing, and implementing the RN to BSN completion program. She leads Galen’s online team and coordinates with campus Deans and Program Director to provide direction for all Galen online pre-licensure education. An experienced nurse educator and academic leader, Dr. Burlingame started her career in an active clinical practice as an Intensive Cardiac Care Unit and Emergency Room nurse. In addition to her clinical practice, she was a full-time faculty member in an associate degree nursing program. Her academic administrative experience includes serving as an Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Program Director, Academic Dean at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, and Interim Provost of Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Minnesota. In these roles, Dr. Burlingame worked extensively with the faculty and program directors of several online programs in collaboration with other state colleges.
A nurse for almost three decades, Dr. Burlingame has held a variety of positions as a nurse educator and academic administrator at several institutions. She is the author of many publications and successful grants, and she has offered numerous workshops and presentations on topics in nursing and education. She is a frequent textbook reviewer. A graduate of two leadership academies focused on small and community colleges, she has served on a number of state and regional committees on nursing education and collaboration among educational institutions and workforce organizations.
Before assuming her current role, Dr. Burlingame served Galen as Special Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Interim Dean of the Tampa Bay Campus. She earned the Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota, the Bachelor of Science Degree from Moorhead State University, and the Associate Degree in Nursing from Northland Community College.
