Practical/Vocational Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Vocational Nurses (LVNs) collect data on a patient’s status and report it to the rest of the team, assist in developing a plan of care, and provide patient care under the supervision of an RN or physician. LPNs and LVNs can supervise nursing assistants and nursing aides.

The U.S. Government Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that, on a national average, a Practical/Vocational Nurse’s median salary is $19.66 per hour. The lowest 10% earn $13.89 per hour and those in the upper 10% earn about $26.49 per hour. (These pay ranges depend on geographic areas, healthcare institutions, duties, professional titles, etc.)
